Posing in front of the Brandenburg Gate, which has seen quite a bit of history in its time.
We spent the last four days in Berlin, perhaps one of the most intriguing and "cool" cities we have visited during our journey through Europe. It was a fantastic time and we came away with a great feeling about the city. Yet it's funny - because before I would have never considered Berlin to be somewhere I would want to go. My parents visited Berlin in the early 90's, just a few years after the Wall fell, and didn't come away all that impressed. However, it seemed that everyone we met over here kept talking about how interesting and fun Berlin has become - and we can validate their claim that Berlin is ONE COOL CITY!
The Reichstag - Germay's Parliamentary building - combines old and new, with a modern dome on top of the building symbolizing transparency in government... which judging by the history of this building (Hitler used a fire here in 1933 to help gain control of the government) is a good thing.
Celebrating Christie's new US Immigration status at Checkpoint Charlie, the most famous crossing point of the Berlin Wall from 1961 to 1989.
