Master chef and all-around-good-guy Yusuf Aksoy, owner of Taverna da Guzzi in Gotzens, adds a little fire to the chicken!
One of the best parts about living in Europe is the people you meet. We have been blessed to come across countless new friends - and sometimes the best are in places you wouldn't expect. A perfect example of this is Yusuf, the easy-going, extremely generous Turkish owner of Taverna da Guzzi Italian restaurant, a local joint near our old house in Gotzens that serves some of the best food we've ever tasted. He has become one of our best friends here, and offered last week to teach us the secrets behind his TAGLIATELLE DE POLLO!
This dish is like (sorry George) fettucini alfredo on STEROIDS! It consists of chicken and broccoli in a cream sauce with wide noodles, often topped with fresh cheese and baked in the wood burning oven. It was the first dish I ever ate at Guzzi, and has had me coming back ever since! (It's also Gonzo's favorite!)
The pasta was delicious - just like every time. I can't reveal the "secret" but I can tell you the key is to keep your wok hot and to serve your noodles al dente. Thanks again, Yusuf! (Next up: Barista cappuccino making contest this Monday in Innsbruck.)
