The Cliffs of Moher
Arguably (but in this country, what isn't) Ireland's top tourist attraction is the Cliffs of Moher along the west coast. The famous cliffs, which play host to over 1 million tourists per year, run for 8 kilometers and reach a maximum height of 214 meters above the crashing Atlantic Ocean. That is 70 stories tall! Halfway through the formation lies O'Brien's Tower, which has actually been a tourist observation point since 1835. (You didn't think tourism started in the 1980s did ya?) The site was inspiring, and we were fortunate enough to have the weather clear when we arrived.

If you go, keep in mind the roads near the cliffs are NOT FAST and NOT WIDE! (See driving post) Therefore, plan a good chunk of time for getting there and exploring the area on foot. Oh yeah, they charge you 8 euro to park there... but it all goes to help pay for the new 32 million euro visitors center. While we didn't go inside, I'm sure its decent.
Dad... you wouldn't be happy about what I did next.
