Morning, Italian Style

View from our Patio... every morning.

In order for you all to get an understanding of our life here in Italy, I thought it would be best to tackle it piece by piece... as days tend to blend together in an eclectic mix of football, food, traffic, and laughs.  The view above is, as mentioned, from our patio in Aci Castello.  Facing southeast, the morning sun rises each day above the sea, and this is the typical place where i rub my eyes, stretch out my arms, and say, "what am I gonna do today?"

Due to the crazy hours of Catanians (we have yet to actually go to sleep on the same day we woke up), usually this occurs around 10:30am.  George - my partner in crime - is blessed to be what we call an EARLY OWL -- that is both a night owl (stays up late) and early bird (gets up early).  Yes, he burns the midnight oil and catches the worm.  Once my eyes have adjusted to the daylight, we typically head out on foot towards one of the two small villages we live between... or George whips up a mean batch of scrambled eggs.

George checking out the waves, wondering if there is anything witty about the sea that could fill his blog.  Check back on day 87 for the answer.

Middle: The Boats of Aci Trezza... wonder if "Johnny Time" could compete with these bad boyz.
3rd from Top: Front street in Aci Trezza, a perfect place for people watching - or to just watch the world go by.
Bottom: Our typical breakfast - Cornetto (Italian Croissant) - which of course can be filled with custard creme, marmalade, or a Canadian favOUrite, Nutella.  We also have a choice of Cappuccino (like a latte) or cafe (which is just a shot of espresso... mmm - i'll take three please.)

As you can see, such an atmosphere leads to a slowing of the heart rate, an opening of the mind, and relaxed conversation.  I think I can get used to this :-)
