Perfect Storm (Waves)

Late last week, the tropical paradise of Aci Castello (or ‘Malibu’ as it is now being called) was hit with TWO DAYS of consecutive rain.  Locals fled to high ground, as they had never seen such a downpour, with almost 2 inches accumulating over the 48 hour period.  Someone almost even mentioned the word "F5" … and you all know we don’t talk about that. (Twister Movie Reference).

In the aftermath, after the 6 palm branches were cleared from the side of the road, the subsequent waves began rolling in.  This storm surge, straight from the coast of Africa, caused some amazing waves to hit the coast… and would have been PERFECT for body surfing if not for the jagged, flesh eating lava rocks that lurk a foot below the surface and for the fact that the waves were breaking less than 20 feet from shore.

However, I of course had my camera ready for the surge, and caught the following pictures of the sea’s assault on the coastline.  Enjoy!
