Sea front my butt... Sea ON! The crashing waves create a perfect backdrop for a warm summer evening in one of Italy's best places for nightlife: CATANIA!
As the weather has warmed, the entire island of Sicily has been transformed from a lazy, relaxed island to a throbbing, tropical paradise!
However, it's not just the beaches during the day that are hot - the night spots here in Sicily carry a sweet vibe as well. (Perhaps why Frodor's guidebook ranks Catania as one of the top three nightlife places in all of Italy!) The following pics are from a restaurant/lido called "BELLATRIX," located on a wooden deck extending out over the sea. We came here to celebrate the end of our regular season, and enjoyed an almost 'surreal' environment!
On our way in to Bella Trix, I casually snapped these photos - and later had the opportunity to show them to the owner who was instantly impressed - and before you knew it, we were like family! It also turned out that the owner is a former Elephant player, which adds to the great connection we share at this place.
In addition to serving pizzas and having a high-class candlelit restaurant, the lower deck serves a cool Italian tradition called "Appertivo." Loosely translated as 'appetizers,' you can enjoy a buffet of countless Italian finger foods and 'tapas' all complimentary with the purchase of a single drink. It is a great way to just hang out with your friends, socialize, and admire the way the moon reflects on the water!
