Munich's English Gardens

The happy couple posing in front of many parks in the vast English Gardens of Munich.

We spent the late afternoon on Monday riding bicycles through the English Gardens of Munich.  Let me tell you - this isn't your Mother's garden - it is one of the (if not THE) biggest urban parks in all of Europe, stretching for miles through the downtown core.

The park itself is like an oasis in the city - with countless rivers, beaches, and parks running through it.  It even comes complete with its own beer garden, seating 5,000!  (As we rode past, it was operating at about 95% capacity!)  I would compare it to Central Park in New York - only much bigger - and Stanley Park in Vancouver - although the sheer size and different "environs" makes it much more impressive.

If we lived here - and after spending two days here I think we'd be very comfortable - then I'm sure this would be one of our favorite places to spend time... and further proof of the European "balance of life" that we have come to love!

Miles of bike paths.

Who would think a river like this - downtown?

Sicilians would love it here: THE STONE BEACH!

Dude, Ryan Finley just tipped me off to the blog ... nice to see you're still living the dream, fella. And doing it in my motherland, no less! Congrats on the marriage, and enjoy the insanely inexpensive wine while you can.
