Bike Land: Amsterdam

Have you seen my bike?

Amsterdam is arguably Europe's most bike-friendly city, with an estimated 1 MILLION bikes in daily use.  (With a population of 750,000 in the downtown core, that is more than one bike per person!)

What that also equates to is a lot of BIKE PARKING.  Bikes are strewn everywhere in the city, and seem to be attached to any free-standing medal object.  (Bike theft is also an issue, with an estimated 100,000 bikes stolen per year - or roughly 10%!)

Therefore, it is important to have safe parking - which is exactly what we found at the Central Station bike parking lot... a 4 story structure littered with literally THOUSANDS of bikes - as far as the eye can see!  It has 24 hour security, is free to the general public, and is essentially the "Granddaddy of the All" in the bike-parking industry.  (Aka BIKE ROSE BOWL!)

Here's a few pics!

The final spot... creative!
