On our final full day in Catania, it was time to teach the Italians a thing or two about an American specialty: PANCAKES!!!
While breakfasts in Italy are excellent - they are usually very short... just a cappuccino, granita, and cornetto. With that in mind, we hosted a number of our teammates for Pancakes. Our friend Keith came up HUGE with the supplies from the American Navy Base, and Big Brandon worked the griddle, as Matt says, like a CHAMP!

Brandon worked the griddle like a champ... guess that's why he gets pancakes ON and OFF the field. (OK... I know that was very corny...)
The clear favorite topping was cool whip and strawberries... and Coach Matteo was the clear champion putting away 10 big ones!
Our biggest victory though was just getting a chance to thank the countless new Italian friends we have made for the incredible hospitality and welcome over the past 6 months. We leave Italy (this time :-) with a new sense of family and friendship.
